In China today, the No.23 Research Institute, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, also called "Shanghai Transmission Lines Research Institute (STL for short) , is the largest research institute in the field of optical and electronic transmission lines , and their applications. Established in January 1963, it is a comprehensive research, development and production organization specialized in various optical/electronic transmission Lines, connectors and assemblies, optical fibers, fiber optic cables, optical devices, optical/electronic transmission systems, as well as special purpose equipment for cable making. It has about 600 employees, including more than 400 engineering and technical personnel, and 110 senior engineers. Since its establishment, the Institute has obtained more than 800 items of achievement, of which more than 200 items have reached or approached the advanced international level at corresponding time, 300 items have reached Province-level or Ministry-Level. In November 1998 the Institute passed GB/T19001-ISO 9001 Quality System Certification. Since then the quality policy of "Taking customer's satisfaction as the aim, keeping the product quality at the leading level in China" has been continued and carried forward, and the technological level and product quality have been enhanced further.
